Bigelow Chapel

The Bigelow Chapel was made possible by an initial gift from United alum Mary Bigelow McMillan in honor of her parents, Charles H. and Allison Bigelow. The innovative design and beauty offer a sacred space where worship, ritual and meditation are easily invited.

The chapel is a religious building offering both the seminary and the wider community a profound statement of God’s presence and mystery in the world. The chapel is able to provide intimate space for groups of 20-40 people and also has the capacity to accommodate more than 200 people for worship and special events.

The Bigelow Chapel increases our outreach to the community, serves as a setting for public lectures and convocations, offers gallery space for art exhibitions, and provides a venue for musical concerts, liturgical dance and chancel drama. Additionally, the chapel serves as a site for special, public ecumenical worship services.

Bigelow Chapel is the most recent addition to the seminary campus; the chapel was consecrated on September 14, 2004.
